Does a Proficiency Check for a Rating cover me for a Flight Review?

Not necessarily. A proficiency check for a rating such as an IPC or FIR may also be recorded on your Part 61 Licence by the Examiner as a successful Flight Review; however, all the necessary elements of a flight review will need to be covered during your rating proficiency check. You should tell your examiner when you book your test if you also require a flight review.

Does completion of a successful IPC cover me for a NVFR flight review?

Yes, if you hold a NVFR.

Does the issue of an instrument rating (IR) automatically grant the privileges of a Private Instrument Rating (PIR)?

The flight test for an Instrument Rating will cover the requirements for the grant of a PIR and such endorsements (see CASR Table 61.935) as are specifically addressed in the IR test (see CASR 61.930(4); however, unless the PIR is entered into your Part 61 Licence by the examiner, and CASA is notified of the issue or the PIR, you will not be deemed to hold a PIR. If you wish to be issued a PIR you must let the examiner know before your test for the IR.

If I combine tests will I be charged multiple test fees?

The price of your assessment depends upon the complexity of the test. The more assessment tasks the examiner must complete the more complex the assessment and the complexity will affect the fee charged. We do not recommend combining flight tests.

If I cancel or do not show up for a booked flight test or review will I be charged a fee?

We reserve the right to charge a fee for cancelled or no showflight tests.

Do I need a medical certificate to undertake a flight test?

Yes, you must hold a valid medical certificate appropriate to the level of licence. e.g. A class 1 for a CPL.

Do I need to bring my flight training records to the test?

Yes, if you are applying for an initial issue licence or rating, the examiner must be satisfied you have completed an appropriate course of training.

What if I fail my test or review, do I still have to pay the test fee?

Yes.

What documents should I bring to a flight test or review?

You should bring your: Photo I.D., Licence, logbook, Medical Certificate and if applicable, training records and ASIC.
